The Recovery Outreach Mission is a tax exempt, non-profit 501c3 – (EIN# 27-0696654 DLN#17053244318029) and we need your help.
Since 1994 we have provided coats, blankets, food, and cold weather clothing to the homeless people of Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth who are unable to get into the local shelters due to distance, acute intoxication or mental illness, or families who do not wish to be separated by the gender restrictions of the shelters.
Since 2005 we have self funded and facilitated Christ centered 12-step recovery meetings free and open to the general public for individuals struggling with addictions, mental illnesses, grief issues, childhood trauma, stress and anger management support, and any hurt, habit or hang-up for which they need support.
Due to the recent increase in the homeless populations in Norfolk as a result of the recent Nor-easter flooding and record cold temperatures this winter, we have a more urgent need than ever.
Dozens of homeless die of exposure every year in the south Hampton Roads area. It’s 24 degrees at midnight, you are too far from a shelter, so you are behind the 7-11 or under an overpass with nothing to eat. Since 1995 the mobile team from Recovery Outreach Mission is in the van looking for you with a flashlight, hot food, a coat and a blanket. It’s our goal to make sure you aren’t one of them.
We are in urgent need of financial support and qualified volunteers from area churches, business, professionals, and individuals who wish to have a tangible positive impact in their local area. All donations are tax deductible, deeply appreciated and urgently needed.
What will the weather be like tonight?
Don’t forget us – we won’t forget them
